It is a $6.6 million investment that supports a broad variety of recreational, leisure, and therapeutic programs and activities for all ages. Construction on the Kindersley Aquatic Centre began in summer 2017 by a design build consortium of Pro-Bilt Structures Ltd. and Western Recreation. Swim – Gym Annual Membership:

We have partnered with Anytime Fitness Kindersley, to offer a annual Swim – Gym Membership for our facilities. This membership is offered at an adult rate, senior rate and student rate. A person must be 16 years of age or older to purchase this pass.

To purchase a Swim-Gym pass one must purchase an annual pass from either Anytime Fitness of the Kindersley Aquatic Centre at full price, present that pass to the opposite organization and purchase their annual pass for a discounted rate, then return to the original place of purchase an receive a refund for a discounted amount to the full price annual pass purchase. As an example, you purchase a full price annual pass from Kindersley aquatic centre, then you take that pass to Anytime Fitness and purchase an annual membership from Anytime at a discounted rate, then you take your Anytime Fitness pass back to the Kindersley Aquatic Centre and receive a refunded amount for your Kindersley Aquatic Pass based on if you are a senior, student or adult. This also works the other way.

To inquire about this unique opportunity contact Chantelle Benjamin at or Angela Cullen at (306) 463 4967. Make sure to like and follow Anytime Fitness Kindersley on Facebook and Instagram.

Child Minding Service:

We are putting together our Child Minding program. The idea of this is for the parent or guardian to be able to use the Kindersley Aquatic Centre and associated facilities while the Child Minding service takes care of their child. We are planning to offer this service during times such as Aqua Fit classes, Lane Swim, Parented lessons, etc.

Child minding is for children 7 years of age or under. Children can be in Child Minding for a maximum of 2 hours.

Swimming Alone

Children under 7 or non-swimmers who cannot pass the “swim test” must be within arms reach of a responsible caregiver, an adult or youth who is a proficient swimmer. The “swim test” is being able to swim 12 metres (width of the Jr. Olympic Pool) with a recognizable stroke. This is up to the Lifeguards discretion whether or not the non-swimmer passes the test.

Advanced Courses

Water Safety Instructor:

The Water Safety Instructor (WSI) program prepares you to instruct Red Cross Swim Programs. To become a WSI there are 4 steps specifically associated to the certification required and a extra 5th step which is becoming certified in Standard First-Aid and CPR Level C with AED. The Standard First-Aid certification needs to be completed prior to the Step 4 – Classroom and Pool Component.

Step 1: Skills Evaluation, at a cost of $40.00. This evaluation ensures that you have the necessary water safety knowledge, strokes and skills equivalent to the Red Cross Swim Kids 10 performance criteria and Instructor Emergency Response skills. This evaluation takes three hours to complete. WSI candidates are required to complete the WSI Step 4: Classroom and Pool component within one year of the successful completion of the Step 1 – Skills Evaluation

Step 2: Online Modules, at a cost of $175.00. These online modules focus on the theory of instruction through videos, virtual games, online activities, workbook exercises, and a knowledge evaluation at the end of each module. After completing your Skills Evaluation, register for an online component to receive your course materials package to gain access to the online component. You will have 6 months after completing the Online Modules to begin your Step 3 – Teaching Experience.

Step 3: Teaching Experience. Module takes place from February to April 2020 during the winter swimming lessons programme at a cost of $20.00. In your teaching experience, you will assist a supervising Water Safety Instructor for first-hand experience with teaching progressions and swimmer skills in a class setting. This provides a frame of reference to reflect on and link to the theory of the course. The Step 3 – Teaching Experience must be completed within 6 months of finishing the Step 2 – Online Modules, and prior to starting the Step 4 – Classroom and Pool component.

Step 4: Classroom and Pool Component. Module takes place April 3, 2020 from 4:00pm-9:00 pm and April 4 & 5, 2020 from 9:00am-5:00pm at a cost of $200.00. In the Classroom/Pool sessions, you will demonstrate and receive feedback on your instruction skills to ensure you can effectively plan, teach, and evaluate the Red Cross Swim programs.
