Kenneth Francis, Mayor

I’m proud to say that I was born and raised in the Kindersley area. I was born in the (then new) Kindersley hospital in 1967.
I lived on the farm at Mantario and took all my K-12 schooling in Eatonia. I attended Olds College after graduating from high school.
After completing my 2-year Petroleum Land Agent program, I found work in Regina as a land agent working for oil and gas operators and crown utilities. My final contract while in Regina was with TransCanada Pipelines.
When Karen and I became engaged, we knew Regina wasn’t the place for us as it was too far from home and family. I took a position in Saskatoon with SaskPower and Karen worked for the Page Credit Union. We had really good careers there but gave them up to move home.
We were expecting our first (of 3 children) when I started Palliser Land Ltd. (later Millennium Land & Grassland Environmental Inc.) as well as farming with my parents.
We have been proud residents and taxpayers of Kindersley ever since moving back actively contributing to the local community from both a business and volunteer perspective.
This community has been our family’s primary focus since moving back, to what we have always considered home.
My recent provincial government involvement (Kindersley MLA 2018 to present) was a very good learning experience. I had the good fortune of being placed on many important boards and committees like Treasury Board and several Cabinet Economy and Trade boards as a legislative secretary. I was also an advisor on several Energy and Resources and Agriculture files which of course is the heart of our economy here.
These experiences, along with the relationships made, are vital to effectively representing our community at the municipal level.
I look forward to picking up where I left off as Deputy Mayor in 2018. Our council in 2016 made some aggressive policy moves and started running this municipality more like a business. That needs to continue. So much has improved here in the last 8 years.
So much has been built, thanks in large part to all levels of government but especially the Town, the RM of Kindersley as well as the continued support of oil and gas companies and of course local businesses.
There is always so much more to do and I am committed to working with all levels of government, locally, provincially and federally to ensure this community has a bright future ahead of it.
Kindersley is the hub of our trade area. We need it to be business friendly, taxpayer friendly and financially healthy.
That is and will continue to be my focus as mayor.

Warren Schafer, Deputy Mayor

Hey, Warren Schafer here,
I am excited to have been re-elected for Town Council where I have been a member for the past four years. I’ve lived in Kindersley since the late 80’s with my wife and four kids.
Most of my spare time is spent chasing kids around for activities, while trying to find time for a round of golf or a hunting or camping getaway. I’ve worked in the oil field in this area since the early 90’s. My favourite place to spend time in Kindersley is at the local rink or ball diamond with the kids.
In the last four years there have been a lot of projects started and completed and there are a few more things I would like to see completed in the next four years. There have been lots of infrastructure upgrades such as water main repairs, the Motherwell Beach, WCEC repairs, and road maintenance. We need to continue on the path of infrastructure upgrades to keep our town beautiful, sustainable, and viable for young people to set up roots in our community.

Anthony Barlow, Councillor

I am the Owner of Ripper Well servicing Ltd. I have been working for this company for 10 years, and bought the company 2.5 years ago, I really enjoy what I do, the hard work it takes and the challenges that arise with the job, the critical thinking skills, the employees and contractors I have. The Kindersley area has been a pleasure for a small business owner.
My hobbies include hunting, fishing & snowmobiling when time permits. I enjoy spending most of my spare time with my wife Mercedes and my two young sons Cohen and Ace, whether it be chasing them with their sports or getting time teaching and showing them good life values and good ethics.
My favorite places in Kindersley have to be the west central events centre, Motherwell Reservoir & the trail around it, both Kinsmen and Rosedale outdoor rinks, golf course, spray park with the kids, I guess there is a lot.
The reasons I decided to run for council is because I am 30 years old and there is new generation of people in Kindersley that will eventually have to start taking these positions at some point, maybe it will get some attention, get some more voters and maybe even more people running next election and future elections. I am also infatuated with learning how things operate and coming up with resolutions to optimize in places that could use improvement. Such as our lift station in rosedale for 1 example.
My Goals on council will to assure the lift station issue in Rosedale and other areas gets resolved and not swept under the rug. Also any kind of low income housing Kindersley would be able to subdivide or apply for, rising cost of living a serious issue, I am sure we can all relate and know someone struggling. A person would have to see what issues and plans are currently present when getting onto council to see what needs to take priority.
I have been in Kindersley for 29 years. And it really is an incredible and resource rich town. The businesses and people in the town are great and very talented, I feel like there really is something for everyone here.

Hello everyone.
Some of you may know me from my 6 years and the Great Canadian Oil Change and some may know me as the Executive Director for the Kindersley Chamber of Commerce.
My wife Melissa and I moved to Kindersley in 2012 to be nearer to family and have thoroughly enjoyed our time here. We both realized that this community has something for everyone and the people here have been friendly and helpful.
I believe that by serving on Town Council, I can bring life experiences that I feel will benefit the Town and you, the hard working citizens. Being in the Chamber has also given me a different perspective as to what may be needed in our Town and maybe I can help in some way.
I also feel that this election is important as we move forward in these next 4 years. Projects and initiatives started by the previous council have been great. We just need to carry on that vision as well as have our own vision of the future of this town.
Kindersley is a great place to be, otherwise I would not be here.

Randy Ervine, Councillor

My name is Randy Ervine and I am a lifetime resident of Kindersley. I currently own and operate a family business that was established in 1976. My wife Shawna and I have raised our 3 daughters here and are proud to say we are longtime residents of this thriving community.
I have always felt obligated to be involved in the community and try to make a positive difference in any way possible. Originally it was playing, coaching, managing or volunteering on various sports related organizations, but also included being the chairperson of both the DKA (Downtown Kindersley Association), KRPA (Kindersley Regional Park Authority) as well as a few other groups and organizations.
Having the honor of being elected to council for the 3rd time will give me the opportunity to continue being part of a group who will move forward, making beneficial decisions for the residents of Kindersley. I feel our entire council of the past 8 years, have done an admirable job of improving the town from where we were in back in 2016.
While the past 8 years have been very valuable in understanding how a council and a municipality operates, there is always more to learn and more work to do. As a council, I wouldn’t suggest we got everything right but we did accomplished a number of things under the great leadership of Mayor Rod Perkins, while learning from any miscues throughout those years. I always welcome feedback, providing information, and helping to resolve issues when approached directly by residents regarding what we are doing as a council.
Over the past 8 years we were able to complete several significant projects, and currently have a couple of more that are underway that will definitely enhance our community once completed.
As for hobbies I have always enjoyed music and golfing as much as possible, but most importantly spending as much time with family especially our 2 young grandsons.

Shaun Henry, Councillor

Good day folks,
My name is Shaun Henry and I have been a part of Kindersley since 2011. I am employed at the local Synergy Credit Union branch and enjoy spending time watching my kids participate in the many activities within the community. In my spare time, I am involved in being a hockey official and mentoring younger referees as well as a committee member for the upcoming provincial curling event being hosted here in January. Being a part of Council from 2014-2019, I was part of a team that brought the indoor pool and new fire hall to life and wish to continue pushing Kindersley forward as the province’s largest town. I helped step in as Acting Mayor for 10 of those months while awaiting the next election in 2016 and feel that experience will help make me a great Councillor forging ahead. One of my goals as a Council member will be to make Kindersley an attractive destination for future growth.
