🐥 Let’s talk CHICKENS!
🐣 There have been a number of inquiries regarding having chickens within the Town of Kindersley.
🐓 Our Bylaw to Provide for the Care and Control of Animals, Bees, Livestock and Poultry defines “PET” as domesticated or tamed and kept as a companion: not raised for profit; not customarily raised for human consumption. A chicken is customarily raised for human consumption and therefore does not meet the definition of a pet.
🐤 This Bylaw also states chickens may be kept to a maximum of five (5) in the RA and UR zoned regions within the town with proper fencing erected. IF you do not live in these two zones (RA and UR), you CAN NOT have chickens. Having chickens outside of those two zones can result in fines reaching up to $1000.00.
