West Central Event Centre — 500 2nd Street East, Kindersley, SK

The West Central Events Centre (WCEC) is centrally located at 500 2nd Street East.  It is comprised of two ice arenas – Co-op and Events Centre (EC), a 6 sheet Curling Rink, and an indoor walking track. The WCEC is home to Kindersley Minor Sports, Kindersley Sledge, Iron Horse Kindersley Klippers, Kindersley Red Lions, and many more. Ice rentals are available from August through April. The  WCEC is a beautiful facility that also regularly hosts concerts, cabarets, trade shows, rodeos, conferences and large tournaments.  WCEC is the first in the province to accommodate and facilitate a fully accessible arena for sledge hockey.

Swimming Alone

Children under 7 or non-swimmers who cannot pass the “swim test” must be within arms reach of a responsible caregiver, an adult or youth who is a proficient swimmer. The “swim test” is being able to swim 12 metres (width of the Jr. Olympic Pool) with a recognizable stroke. This is up to the Lifeguards discretion whether or not the non-swimmer passes the test.

Swimming Alone

Children under 7 or non-swimmers who cannot pass the “swim test” must be within arms reach of a responsible caregiver, an adult or youth who is a proficient swimmer. Available Meeting or Event Space

The Guy’s Furniture Lounge provides a great spot to relax and visit with other sports enthusiasts while watching a game.  Located on the second floor of the WCEC, it is a prime rental venue for staff parties, crafting in large groups, catering, and a wide variety of other private rental needs. Guy’s Furniture Lounge provides a comfortable atmosphere for activities no matter the season.

The Conference Room provides a great location for business meetings, small conference meetings, courses, and a professional atmosphere.  It is located on the second level of the WCEC, just off the walking track.  It accommodates a 12-chair conference table with space for additional seating upon request.   It includes a whiteboard, projector, and screen ( must make prior arrangements to ensure all equipment is available and ready).

The Multi-Purpose Room provides a great location and a casual atmosphere for birthday parties, meetings, training courses. It is located off the main level hallway of the WCEC. This room allows a lot of flexibility to facilitate many different gatherings.

Other Facility Information

Arena Seating Temperatures

To maintain the three ice surfaces at the WCEC, our staff regulate the temperatures to keep the ice surfaces at the safest and highest quality as possible for our users. The average arena temperature ranges from 9 – 14C. Temperature fluctuations are usually due to the changing ambient temperature throughout the arena.

We ask that users do not adjust or tamper with the thermostats in the stands. The thermostats are to be accessed by WCEC staff only. Please contact the WCEC office (306.463.1820) if you have questions or concerns.

For your comfort in the stands, please remember to dress appropriately in warm clothing.

Please also be aware of the Town of Kindersley’s Zero Tolerance Policy and Anti-Bullying Bylaw, which apply to all Town facilities and programs.
