Elm Tree Pruning Ban April 1 to August 31

Dutch Elm Disease (DED) is a deadly fungus that can kill an elm in as little as three weeks by clogging its water-conducting vessels. Once a tree is infected by DED, it needs to be removed and disposed of properly by either burying it or burning it. The Town of Kindersley is dedicated to keeping DED out of our community. Every year the Saskatchewan Dutch Elm Disease Association (SDEDA) implements a pruning ban from April 1 to August 31. The Town of Kindersley will strongly enforce no pruning or removing of elms during this period. “Elm Tree” means any tree or [...]

NO PARKING

Let's play a game! What do fire hydrants, yellow curbs, and blue curbs all have in common? They mean DON'T PARK HERE! Blue curbs are an exception if you have a parking permit for them. Catch-Basin, Main Storm Drain, & Culvert Steaming Reminders

With warmer temperatures comes spring thaw. Water will start to accumulate in our streets, back lanes, and ditches. When that happens, our public works crew begins addressing these drainage issues by steaming catch-basins, main storm drains, and culverts throughout Kindersley. The hot steam melts the ice that is blocking the water from flowing. This is one reason that during the winter months we ask property owners not to pile snow in drainage ditches or on top of culvert openings as it causes huge drainage issues during spring thaw. Some catch-basins or culverts can take anywhere from 15 minutes to a few [...]

Let’s Talk CATS!

Let's talk CATS! Specifically FERAL CATS. While some people may think they are doing a good deed by providing feral cats with food, in reality, feral cats would hunt and feed themselves. By providing food for them you are making them dependent on you and jeopardizing their existence. I know you feel sorry for them but left to their own devices it is survival of the fittest for the wild cat community just like any other wild animal community. You are definitely putting them in danger within the town limits. We are heading into mating season. Cats are fighting and spraying [...]

Reminder: Accessible Parking Spot Permits

Please remember to put your parking permit on your mirror when parking in accessible parking spots! Please remember that this is not a space to park simply if you are "running in quickly". If you do not have a permit, you should not be parking in this spot. Please show some respect for those who require it!
