As with any service, Kindersley’s water utility is impacted by inflation, operational costs to maintain the Water Treatment Plant, capital expenditures related to infrastructure maintenance and repair, and changes to consumption.

The water utility is to be self-sustainable through user fees and the establishment of utility reserves to offset maintenance to infrastructure, including water and sewer mains, valve replacement, etc. Kindersley’s utility reserve has been depleted in the past few years to pay for necessary infrastructure maintenance. As a result, water and sewer rates need to be adjusted to allow for these reserves to be replenished.

Leak Notices

A leak notification is issued when continuous water movement has been recorded at some point during the billing period, which may indicate a leak. When this continuous water movement has been recorded, a notification is issued on the water bill.

Any inquiries, concerns, or complaints must be directed to our office at 306.463.2675. For privacy reasons, we do not discuss individual water bills publicly.

Did You Know:

The average household in Kindersley consumes under 25,000 gallons of water over a three month period.

On occasion, residents receive an exceptionally high water bill due to high water consumption.

High water bills are investigated on a case by case basis upon the request of a resident. Below are several causes we have found upon investigation:

• Reverse osmosis systems

• Leaks in the irrigation system – due to dry weather, a continuous leak from under- ground sprinklers went undetected

• Water heaters were malfunctioning and began to leak water continuously

• Water softeners were found to be faulty and ran water continuously

• Running toilet(s) and leaks in valves that were not visible

• Additional guests over the holidays and additional adults living in the home full-time
