We hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. Many of you were working in your yards and some even enjoyed an evening around the fire pit. With that in mind, please be courteous towards your neighbors while gathered around your fires.
The burning of the following material is prohibited in any open-air fire:
i. any material classified as hazardous or dangerous goods;
ii. waste and rubbish, including but not limited to, garden refuse, slime, manure, animal carcasses, effluent, garbage, yard waste, plastics, or cloth;
iii. construction debris and scrap, including but not limited to pressure treated wood, shipping pallets, packing material, wood treated with preservatives, stains, or paint, cardboard, or drywall;
iv. any material that generates black smoke or an offensive odor when burned including but not limited to, insulation from electrical wiring, tires, asphalt shingles, or lumber treated with creosote;
v. accelerants, including but not limited to solvents, oil, grease, aerosols, or accelerant-soaked rags; any materials which are normally collected under the Town’s garbage and recycling collection programs.
Please also keep in mind the noise bylaw has a quiet time of 11pm, fires are NOT allowed in any yard frontage, fire pits must be made of a non-combustible material, fire pits must be located 10ft from a neighboring property line, building or combustible structure/vegetation.
