Council Highlights-January 14, 2019 Regular Meeting

Town Council held their Regular Meeting on Monday, January 14, 2019. The following resolutions were made regarding an Assignment of Lease Agreement at the Kindersley Airport, an agreement for recreational software, and updating of Bylaws.

Council approved an Assignment of Lease Agreement for Lot 10 and Lot 11 at the Kindersley Airport in conjunction with, and for the duration of the W. Galbraith Farms Ltd. Hangar Lease. 

An agreement was entered with PerfectMind to provide recreational software for the Town of Kindersley Aquatic Centre and Community Services Department.

The accounts as paid by the Town of Kindersley were accepted as submitted in the amount of $640, 318.81.

A first reading was given to Bylaw 01-19 being an Official Community Plan Amendment. The Bylaw will be brought forward to the February 11, 2019 Regular Meeting of Council for Public Hearings and subsequent readings. Public will be provided of a notice for viewing and feedback.

Council approved three readings of Bylaw 03-19 being a Bylaw to Provide for Management of Solid Waste. The new Bylaw can be viewed at Kindersley.ca.

The Consent Agenda was approved including Correspondence for Acceptance and Filing (SaskWater-Montly Report of December, Corropro-2018 Cathodic Protection Survey Report, Ministry of Government Relations-Certificate of Approval) and Minutes from Committees Reporting to the CAO and Council (WCMGC Minutes-November 22nd 2018, EK Water Board Minutes-December 18th 2018).

Council Highlights-December 10, 2018 Regular Meeting

Town Council held their Regular Meeting on Monday, December 10, 2018. The following resolutions were made regarding the recreation reserve, the fire hall reserve, and the dates of the meetings of Council in 2019.

Council approved the transfer of $25,000 to the Recreation Reserve and $32,000 to the Fire Hall Reserve for projects included but not completed in the approved 2018 Capital and operating budget.

Write off listings were approved for the Town Accounts Receivable, Utilities, and Mobile Home License Fees accounts. This is a yearly process.

The dates of the Regular Meetings of Council were approved for the year of 2019. They can be found on the Community Calendar section of the Kindersley website.

Council approved current appointments for 2019 which shall expire December 31, 2019.

Councillor Randy Ervine was appointed to serve as Acting Deputy Mayor for the term of December 31, 2018 until February 2, 2019. Deputy Mayor Shaun Henry will assume the duties of Mayor during this time. This is in accordance with Bylaw 17-16, being a Bylaw to Regulate the Proceedings of the Council and Committees of the Council of the Town of Kindersley.

The list of accounts as paid by the Town of Kindersley was accepted at the amount of $798,754.99.

Council approved all readings of Bylaw 12-18 Being a Bylaw to Promote Economic Development Through Tax Exemptions. The Bylaw continues for 2 years, this incentive to Specific Development Projects.

Council Highlights-November 26, 2018 Regular Meeting

Town Council held their Regular Meeting on Monday, November 26, 2018. The following resolutions were made regarding bylaw amendments, a lease agreement at the airport, and the new fire hall.

A public hearing was convened to discuss Bylaw 13-18 being a Bylaw to Amend Bylaw 04-14 the Kindersley Zoning Bylaw. Hearing no objections, the Bylaw was subsequently approved.

Council approved the second reading to Bylaw 9-18 being a Bylaw to Amend Bylaw 04-14 the Kindersley Zoning Bylaw. The amendment includes a change to the phrasing of the "Land Use Map" section.

The second reading of Bylaw 11-18 being a Bylaw to Amend Bylaw 04-14 the Kindersley Zoning Bylaw was approved by Council. The amendment includes a change to the phrasing of the "Land Use Map" section.

Council approved an Airport Lease agreement with W. Galbraith Farms Ltd.

An agreement with Stantec Consulting Ltd. was approved for the provision of Payment Certifier Services for the proposed Fire Hall build project, slated to begin Spring 2019.

Council accepted as presented the accounts as paid by the Town of Kindersley in the amount of $799,387.57.

Council Highlights-November 13, 2018 Regular Meeting

Town Council held their Regular Meeting on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. The following resolutions were made regarding Aquatic Centre fees, representatives to the Executive Board of the Western Regional Landfill Inc, and more.

Council approved the presentation of the rates for the new Aquatic Centre. This is one more step complete towards opening the facility in January 2019.

Mayor Rod Perkins, Councilor Dean Galbraith, Town of Kindersley Director-Transportation & Environmental Services Kim Vogel, and Curtis Sackville were recommended as representatives to the Executive Board of the Western Regional Landfill Inc (WRLI) to be decided during their November 20, 2018 WRLI Annual General Meeting.

Two presentations were heard during the evening. One consisted of the progress to date as well as upgrades necessary for the Norman Ritchie Community Centre. There are many bookings that will require the space to be in the best shape possible.

The next presentation included the results of a social media survey completed in regards to the Dedicated Municipal Land North of O'Connor Park. Over 1000 residents engaged with the Town of Kindersley social media outlets during that poll. Thank you for your support.

The list of accounts as paid by the Town of Kindersley was accepted in the amount of $916,897.60. 

November 17-25 has been proclaimed as Saskatchewan Multicultural Week in the Town of Kindersley. The Council urges residents to promote this year's theme "Who's Your Multicultural Superhero?" and to participate in educating themselves on multiculturalism by visiting www.mcos.ca to find more information.
