Communities in Bloom

The Communities in Bloom Committee is made of up residents interested in the beautification and overall development of Kindersley, with additional support from members of the Town of Kindersley’s Department of Community Services.

Throughout the year, this committee is responsible for the design and implementation of a wide range of beautification and community improvement projects. This includes planting trees and flowers, heritage conservation, and environmental initiatives.

Communities in Bloom (CIB) is a Canadian non-profit organization committed to fostering civic pride, environmental responsibility and beautification through community involvement and the challenge of a national program, with focus on enhancing green spaces in communities. 2016 Communities in Bloom/Miracle-Gro® Best Garden Competition

To recognize the hard work and dedication it takes to create and maintain a beautiful yard and garden and will be presenting 6 awards to properties throughout Kindersley that have significantly contributed to the beauty of our community. The awards will be distributed to all areas of Kindersley, including one commercial/retail location.

Winners will be determined by the following criteria:

  1. Neatnes
  2. Environmental consciousness
  3. Impact of floral display
  4. Use of turf
  5. Innovative design
  6. Materials and structures
  7. Creative plant choices and variety
  8. Use of space and flow
  9. Ability to duplicate or emulate
  10. Affordability

Nomination forms are available online here or at any of the following locations: West Central Events Centre, Kindersley Administration Office, and Kindersley Chamber of Commerce Office.

Please submit your completed nomination by September 7 to tim.h@kindersley.ca or any of the locations where nomination forms are available.

Winners will be announced September 14.

CIB National/Provincial Competition

For many years, the Town of Kindersley has participated as a competitor or non-competitive entrant in the annual CIB Provincial and National Competition. Communiites are evaluated in a number of categories: Tidiness, Environmental Action, Heritage Conservation, Urban Forestry, Landscape, and Floral Displays
