Kindersley & District Music Festival
About
The Kindersley and District Music Festival is a competitive music festival held annually for various disciplines, in collaboration with the Saskatchewan Music Festival Association.
The festival typically attracts around 450 entries from school-aged students in the disciplines of voice, piano, woodwinds, brass, percussion, and speech arts. Each discipline is adjudicated by a music professional approved by the provincial association. Local winners 16 years of age or older can be recommended to compete at the Provincial Music Festival competition if selected by the adjudicators.
Music Festival is held in March and culminates in a special Stars of the Festival concert during which scholarships and awards are handed out.
The Kindersley and District Music Festival Association also holds a number of other events throughout the year to raise funds and awareness for the spring competition. These events include the annual Community Carol Festival held in December, as well as music workshops and recitals.
