Animal Licences

Every owner of a dog or cat within the Town of Kindersley is obligated by the Animal Control Bylaw to register and obtain a license from the Town of Kindersley Administration Office, located at 106 5th Avenue East. Office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays. You may also call 306-463-2675.

When applying for a license, the applicant shall be prepared to provide:

  1. A physical description of the animal
  2. The breed, in the case of a dog
  3. The sex of the animal, and information on whether it has been spayed/neutered
  4. The name of the animal
  5. Any other relevant information such as a tattoo, microchip, unique markings or medical conditions required with respect to the animal
  6. The name, address and telephone number of the primary owner of the dog or cat

When issuing a license, the Town will supply the applicant with a tag and a receipt for payment of the license.

A dog that is used as a service animal, such as a guide or “seeing eye” dog shall be registered and licensed without the prescribed fee.

Dogs
Non-spayed/neutered - $50
Spayed/neutered (must provide proof of sterilization from veterinarian):

  • 10 kg or less - $5
  • 11-20 kg - $15
  • 21 kg or more - $20

Cats
Non-spayed/neutered - $50
Spayed/neutered (must provide proof of sterilization) - $10

Business Licences

Every owner/operator of a business or service or any direct sellers operating within the Town of Kindersley are obligated to register and obtain a license from the Town of Kindersley Administration Office, located at 106 5th Avenue East.  Office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays. Office administration staff accessible by phone during these hours by dialing 306-463-2675.

Those businesses which operate from a building for which taxes are assessed (a store front) are exempt from having to obtain a business license.  All others must apply and pay a fee as determined by the nature of their business.

If the business will be operating as a home based business, the application may need to go to Council for approval.

When applying for a license, the applicant shall provide the Town Office with:

  1. The proprietor and business name
  2. Contact information
  3. Type of business or service
  4. Number of employees

The Town will supply the applicant with an issued license that has been signed and sealed by administration and a receipt for payment of the license.

Development and Building Permits

Before you begin any demolition or any renovation or new construction project, you need to determine which permits you must have in place from the Town of Kindersley. You may require an approved development permit, along with structural drawing & approval by a Town-authorized Building Inspector before you proceed with your construction plans or face a stop-work order and be assessed fines and penalties.
All permits are available from the Town of Kindersley office, located at 106 5th Avenue East. Office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays. The Engineering Department is accessible by phone during these hours by calling 306-463-2675.

Development and Building Permit Tips:

  • Sheds and outbuildings under 97 square feet which are to be located in back yards  do not need a development or building permit
  • Fencing requires only a development permit
  • Additions to existing structures require both building and development permits
  • All new buildings over 97 square feet, including RTMs, Modular and Mobile Homes require building and development permits
  • Whenever renovation projects involve significant structural, electrical or mechanical changes they may require a building permit. Please consult with the Town of Kindersley Engineering Department before beginning any renovations.
  • Decks, porches, stairs, etc. require both building and development permits.

Demolition Permit Tips:

  • If you are going to demolish any building under 97 square feet, you do not need a demolition permit. Most decks and all buildings over 97 square feet do require a demolition permit.

Fireworks Permit

Before you plan any fireworks display within the limits of the Town of Kindersley you need to acquire a permit. If you proceed with a fireworks display without proper authorization, you will be assessed fines and penalties.

All permits are available from the Town of Kindersley Administration Office, located at 106 – 5th Avenue East.  Office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays. The office is accessible by phone during these hours by calling 306-463-2675.  Once your permit is completed, it will be forwarded to the Fire Chief for review.

Plumbing Permit

Plumbing Permits are issued by Heartland Regional Health Authority. Application forms can be completed at the Kindersley Administration Office. Typically these forms are completed by the plumber on behalf of the homeowner. Once complete, applications are reviewed by the Public Health Inspector.

Fees for Plumbing Permits are as follows:

  • $40 for, or up to, the first ten (10) fixtures installed in a location, and $5 for each additional fixture
  • $20 for any installation or alteration where more than two (2) fixtures or devices are to be erected or installed.
  • $30 for the installation of a private sewage works.
  • $20 for a permanent connection of an existing plumbing system to a sewage works and/or a waterworks.

For Mobile Homes

When mobile homes are brought into Kindersley, they require a plumbing permit. The cost is for the Connection to Communal Sewage Works or Communal Waterworks is $20.

Road Closure Permit

Before you plan any event within the limits of the Town of Kindersley that will take place on a public street or road, you need to acquire a permit. If you proceed with an event without proper authorization, you will be assessed fines and penalties.

All permits are available from the Town of Kindersley Administration Office, located at 106 5th Avenue East.  Office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays. The Bylaw Enforcement Department is accessible by phone during these hours by calling 306-463-2675. Once your permit is completed, it will be forwarded to the Bylaw Officer for review.
