Pavement Management System
The Pavement Management System to be adopted by the Town of Kindersley prioritize the allocation of resources to preserve, maintain and upgrade the road network. Decisions are based on optimal cost-effective measures to obtain sustainable results in the long-term. Pavements families were created to group roads with similar structural strenght, traffic intensity and current condition (Visual Inspection).

A pilot pavement management system was prepared after careful assessment of data availability. This pilot was intended to exemplify the potential benefits of implementing asset management and can be further extended to incorporate other road assets readily available. Limitations and needs were also identified. The need to conduct a condition survey was identified and a Benkelman Beam was purchased for assessing structural strenght. The engineering department is currently looking for a cheap solution to assess roughness condition across the network. Visual inspection would be used for the time being to identify roughness and cracking distresses on pavement asphalts.
